Katun and Canon Settle Dongle Gear Patent Case

21 Month Old Case Settled in US District Court.

MINNEAPOLIS – (February 2016) – In February 2016, Katun Corporation and Canon filed a joint stipulation to dismiss a patent case related to Canon’s “dongle gear.” The original dongle gear suit was filed in the US in February 2014, eventually naming 33 defendants including manufacturers, distributors and retailers.

“Katun has and will continue to respect all OEMs’ intellectual property rights. We are pleased that we were able to bring this matter to resolution through mutual agreement between the parties,” stated William McIntyre, Sr. Vice President and General Counsel.

Details of the settlement are confidential.

As always, Katun will continue to offer IP-compliant, high-quality products for use in Original Equipment Manufacturer’s imaging devices, and make significant annual investments in support of the company’s robust processes for ensuring IP compliance.
